Taper Grid Coupling

MSB taper grid flexible coupling is distinctive for its unique steel flexible grid running through tapered hubs. The primary advantage of the Taper Grid Coupling is that the grid absorbs shock, vibration, and overload when the machine starts. The coupling with tapered grid flexibility of the grid distributes the force across the surface of the tooth, reducing vibration and shock loads.
MSB’s Taper Grid Coupling is torsionally flexible and capable of absorbing shock loads and vibration. In the event of an overload, the grid acts as a safety device by breaking to prevent damage to the shaft and machine. If serious misalignment occurs due to machinery damage, the grid or hub breaks away, stopping operation and preventing further damage. This reduction in vibration more than doubles the service life of mechanical seals, bearings, and other components.
Taper Grid Couplings provide excellent power transmission performance with low noise and are manufactured according to industry standards, making them fully interchangeable.

Characteristics of Taper Grid Coupling:
- Parallel Misalignment: The movement of the grid in lubricated grooves accommodates parallel misalignment. The steel structure ensures the grid-groove action effectively dampens shock and vibration.
- Angular Misalignment: Under angular misalignment, the lubricated grid and hubs, along with the resilient grid groove design, allow consistent rocking and sliding motions without power loss.
- Axial Misalignment: End float for both driving and driven members is allowed, as the grid slides freely in the lubricated grooves.
- Torsional Flexibility: The grid absorbs shock, vibration, and overload when the machine starts. The force is distributed across the tooth surface, reducing vibration and shock loads
